Lisa Winston Hicks has served as Chairman of the Board for MV Transportation (“MV”) since October 2014. Founded in 1975 in California, MV is the largest privately owned passenger bus transportation contracting firm based in the United States, with approximately 20,000 employees and more than $1 billion in annual revenue. Lisa served as MV’s Executive Vice President and General Counsel from 2012 through early 2018, when she resigned to dedicate her professional time to the Chairman role. While at MV, Lisa has provided the company and its board with legal, compliance, and strategic guidance during a period of dynamic change.
An accomplished lawyer in practice for more than 25 years, Lisa has held a number of leadership roles in corporations, private practice and the federal government, including as: Executive Vice President, General Counsel and Corporate Secretary for MV, Senior Vice President, Associate General Counsel and Corporate Secretary for Energy Future Holdings (f/k/a TXU Corp.); Shareholder, Winstead Sechrest & Minick; Associate Counsel to the President of the United States; Counsel to the Deputy Attorney of the United States; and Acting Chief of Staff for the Civil Rights Division of the U.S. Department of Justice. Lisa began her legal career in San Francisco as an associate at Cooley Godward Castro Huddleson & Tatum.
Lisa received her law degree cum laude from Harvard Law School (1992) and her undergraduate degree with honors from Stanford University (1988) where she was elected to Phi Beta Kappa. Lisa is a member of the bar in California, Texas and the District of Columbia. She is active with the National Association of Corporate Directors, North Texas Chapter and previously served on the boards of Girls Inc. of Metropolitan Dallas, Camp John Marc and the Dallas Downtown Initiative. Lisa and her husband, Jerry Hicks, reside in Dallas with their three young children.
