The presentation will provide a brief overview of the history and current status of the opioid “crisis” and a brief history of and status of the multidistrict litigation filed against the manufacturers and distributors of opioids.  The presentation will look at how the crisis and MDL have impacted health care providers (physicians/hospitals/nursing homes) in their practice of prescribing and administering opioids as well as risk management/liability concerns (lawsuits, licensing board investigations, healthcare fraud, etc.). The presentation will also address what attorneys for health care providers can do for their clients who are dealing with these issues.
