Hurricane Harvey Disaster Relief Training

Maryann D'Aniello, Legal Aid of NorthWest Texas

Ms. D’Aniello is a graduate of the Southern Methodist University Dedman School of Law.  She joined Legal Aid of NorthWest Texas (LANWT) in 2005 as the Hurricane Legal Relief Liaison and worked with Hurricane Katrina evacuees in a joint effort with LANWT and the Dallas Volunteer Attorney Program (DVAP).  She coordinated the efforts of LANWT and private attorneys working to serve hurricane evacuees in the wake of the New Orleans disaster. In 2007 Ms. D’Aniello joined the Housing, Consumer and Economic Benefits Division of LANWT and began working with the Housing Crisis Center (HCC). She represents low income tenants and homeowners with housing issues in an effort to prevent homelessness and preserve title. In addition, her practice consists of representing individuals on issues involving economic benefits such as disability (SSI/SSDI), Medicaid programs, and unemployment compensation, as well as various elder care, probate and guardianship issues.  She continues to work closely with pro bono attorneys who volunteer their time at the HCC at advice only clinics geared toward assisting individuals with housing issues. She also serves as the DVAP mentor attorney for pro bono attorneys that take on housing related cases. Maryann D’Aniello is the Team Lead for LANWT’s Hurricane Harvey Legal Relief Team.

Paige Hoyt, Legal Aid of NorthWest Texas

Lead attorney in civil litigation matters from initial drafting to trial.  Draft complex initial pleadings and motion practice pleadings including emergency matters and legal memorandum. Conduct full discovery requests and disclosures.
Participate in state and federal agency hearings, adoptions and probate hearings; guardianship matters and family law trials.

Lead presenter on the American with Disabilities Act for North Central Texas Council of Government for continuing education seminars.

Chris Larson, Legal Aid of NorthWest Texas

Chris Larson graduated with honors from The University of Texas School of Law and magna cum laude with a BA from Tufts University. He clerked for U.S. Magistrate Judge Stephen Wm. Smith in the Southern District of Texas in Houston before joining the Dallas office of Legal Aid of NorthWest Texas as a G. Rollie White Trust Fellow. His practice focuses on employment litigation as well as removing legal barriers to employment for low-income clients.

Mr. Ernest Martin, Jr., Haynes and Boone, LLP

Mr. Martin is a Partner and Chair of the Insurance Coverage Practice Group of Haynes and Boone LLP in Dallas, Texas, and is the former Partner in charge of the firm’s Dallas office.
In 1998 he founded the Texas Insurance Law Section of the State Bar of Texas and is the Section’s Founding Chairman. He is also the Past Chairman of the Tort and Insurance Section of the Dallas Bar Association. He is the current Vice Chair of the Insurance Coverage Litigation Committee of the Litigation Section of the ABA. He has also been an Adjunct Professor of Insurance Law at the SMU School of Law for over fourteen years.
He represents company policyholders and specializes in handling complex insurance coverage matters. He is a frequent author and speaker, both locally and nationally, on insurance-related issues.
He received his B.A. from Rice University in 1984 and his law degree from the University of California at Berkeley Boalt Hall in 1987.
